Many know the biblical story of Job. He was a true servant of God that endured unimaginable hardships at the hand of the devil but by the nomination of God Himself as recorded in Job 1:8 (NIV), “Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.” Could you even imagine the greatest honor of your name being suggested by the highest and ultimate authority? But wait, I have to endure what? For how long? The Bible goes on to say that Job endure suffering of the greatest magnitudes yet even through it all he sought the salvation of others, it was then that the hedge of protection around Job was restored by God as described in Job 42:10 (NIV), “After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.” Do you think you would be able to pray for others in the midst of great strife and turmoil? How about when your name is being slandered on the greatest scale possible? What about during a period that threatens your very life? Would you be able to carry your cross and look upon others with the mercy of the Lord, and still have the love to pray for another’s salvation?
We thank You for Your grace and mercy. We thank You for Your love and kindness. We thank You for Your strength. We thank You for Your will and for directing our lives even when we are ignorant of the route You have laid before us. Pour into us Your loving gifts so that we can pour into others. Teach us to not only pray for our friends but our enemies as well as Your Word declares. Keep Your arms around us Lord, protect us from the snares and traps that our friends and enemies lay. Guide them into Your arms Lord, even if we are the vessel You use; humble us to be that vessel. Soften the hearts of those who may come against us. Incline Your heart to their pain that causes the adverse behavior against others. We intercede Lord on their behalf and ask that You work a miracle in their lives to show Yourself true to them. Let them see Your goodness Lord so that they will ask, ‘what must I do to be saved?’ When our enemies are weak and in pain, lift them up, Lord. When our enemies are brokenhearted be near them as Your word says. Let us stand strong on Your Word during the midst of this pain and struggle.
In the name of Jesus I pray and declare all these things,
